The Finale Impacts Billboard Charts
Millions tuned in for the Season 9 finale and they liked what they heard. Soon after Lee DeWyze was crowned the American Idol, his version of U2s Beautiful Day went to #1 on the Billboard Rock Digital Chart. This is the new champs first Billboard #1.
Season 4s American Idol, Carrie Underwood, performed her latest single, Undo It, on the May 26th finale. The song, which is co-written by Idol judge Kara DioGuardi, took the #1 spot on Billboards Country Digital Chart.

Billboard.com Presents “American Idol’s All-Time Top 24”
This week, Billboard.com posted their list of the Top 24 to come out of American Idol. They posed the question, How have the contestants stacked up out in the wider waters of the music industry? They answered it by looking at album sales, individual song sales, and radio play counts (according to Nielsen SoundScan and Nielsen BDS as of April 17).

Blake Lewis Makes Chart Debut
This week, Season 6 runner-up Blake Lewis landed at #1 for the first time on a Billboard chart. His single, Heartbreak On Vinyl, off his sophomore album with the same name, topped the Hot Dance Club Play chart.
