Vocal Coach Debra Byrd’s Master Classes

Debra Byrd, vocal coach and arranger for American Idol, has partnered with the world renowned House Of Blues for her master class series, STAR SCHOOL LIVE!These popular master classes offer vital tips and information to aspiring singers, musicians, performers and basically anyone who uses their voice. It gives vocal hopefuls the chance to work with the much sought after singing coach.

Born in Cleveland, Debra studied piano at an early age and studied opera for eight years beginning at age 12. As a teenager she co-founded and sang in two church choirs, performed in a band, and narrated children's concerts for the Cleveland Orchestra, one of the world's most revered ensembles. At the world renowned Karamu Theater, she received training in acting and improv while serving as musical director there as well as at the E. Cleveland and Dobama Theaters. Debra attended Kent State and Temple University.

As vocal coach, Debras credits include American Idol (Seasons 1-9), Canadian Idol (Seasons 2-6), Pop Star to Opera Star (UK), 46th Grammy Awards - My Grammy Moment contest, High School Musical - The Concert (Original Cast), 2010 Grammy-nominated Aint Misbehavin Tour starring Ruben Studdard, Aint Misbehavin 30th Anniversary at The Ahmanson Theatre and A Capitol Fourth 2009, to name a few.As a performer she has done five Broadway shows, recorded duets with Barry Manilow and Bob Dylan and can be heard on numerous movie soundtracks and commercials.
