The very first American Idol, Kelly Clarkson, celebrates her 28th birthday today. Since winning Season 1, Kelly has released four albums which have sold over 20 million copies. She has received five Grammy nominations, and won two Grammy Awards in 2006.
Kelly has had a very busy year. Her most recent album, All I Ever Wanted, shattered Billboard records when her single, "My Life Would Suck Without You," jumped from #97 to #1 in its first week of release. She spent the fall touring around America on the All I Ever Wanted Tour, and Kelly is currently on tour in Asia. Although Kelly has her birthday off, she performs in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia tomorrow.
The Texas native received huge honors at the end of 2009. She appeared on Billboards Decade-End and Year-End charts. Kelly holds the record for the American Idol with the most number ones on the Billboard charts, at 56! In addition, Kelly was nominated for Artist of the Decade by Rolling Stone.
Whats next for the 28 year old? After some more appearances in Asia, Kelly has this summer to look forward to. She will be touring as part of the Lilith Fair 2010 line-up with some of the most talented women in the music industry including Sarah McLachlan, Rihanna, Heart, and more.
